October 11 Committee Meeting
Present: Kevin Hanson, John Reinhardt, David Olson, Aarron Glenna
Notes:
. The pack meeting is Thursday, Oct. 23 at Olson. Den assignments are Tiger/W1 setup, Wolf flag, Bear skit, W1 security, W2 cleanup
. Aarron Glenna has volunteered to be a co-leader for the Tiger den. We are in the process of finding at least one more Tiger den co-leader. Many thanks to Aarron for volunteering!
. Den leaders should send advancements to Mark Mills at markjmmills@comcast.net by Monday, Oct. 20.
. University of Scouting is Saturday, Oct. 25. If you still need to be trained for your position, this is the time to do it! It is also a great opportunity for trained leaders to learn more.
. The procedure for reserving a room at St. Eds for den meetings has changed. Before reserving a room, you need to fill out a Room Request form (which is available at the parish office). Once this form is on file with the parish office, you can go ahead and reserve a room by making a phone call. You only have to fill out and file the form once, and then you can reserve rooms as often as you want. When using St. Eds, please keep in mind that other groups are also meeting in the building. Please remind your cub scouts that there should be no running or shouting in the hallways, and no sliding down the hand rails on the stairs.
. We currently have $6500 in the pack treasury. Our budget for Sept 2008 to Aug. 2009 is $4500. The pack has traditionally kept enough in the bank to cover all expenses for one year in case of poor fund raising results. This leaves $2000, or about $30 per boy. There was some discussion about whether we should hold on to the extra amount or put it back into the pack program. Some possibilities include reducing the price of the Blue and Gold banquet, paying for special programs and events for dens and/or the pack, and increasing the amount of money that the boys keep from fundraising. Think about this and bring your thoughts and suggestions to the November committee meeting.
