FAMILY FRIENDS OF SCOUTING
Dear Cub Scout Parent:
We hope that you and your family will be able to join us at our Blue and Gold Banquet. We are very proud of all of the boys’ achievements and extremely appreciative of all the parental involvement.
During the banquet a volunteer from Northern Star Council will briefly discuss the annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign which helps underwrite the cost of Scouting for all involved. We thought it might be beneficial to send out this letter in advance for your information.
Each year, our Scout unit is asked to support the administrative side of Scouting. The Northern Star Council, which serves more than 108,000 youth from 24 counties throughout Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, provides numerous benefits to all of our boys and adult volunteers. A few of these benefits include:
· The best camps, activities and programs in the country;
· Professional guidance and support that mobilizes several hundred volunteers in our immediate area who work with the children from our community.
· Free training for all adult leaders;
· Free supplemental accident insurance for all registered youth and adults;
· Free primary liability insurance for all registered volunteers
Friends of Scouting provides these benefits and many more to our children, as well as numerous at-risk youth throughout a twenty four county area. Our Pack goal for FOS this year is $1,200 and 36% participation.
If we achieve that goal through donations from parents like you, our Cub Scouts will continue to receive free rank advancement for the next 12 months. In past years, parents have contributed gifts ranging from $5 to $500. The Scouting organization annually spends in excess of $150 per boy while the registration fee is only $10. Compared to most activities like hockey, basketball and even piano lessons, Scouting is a great investment and truly a bargain. During the banquet, you will receive a pledge brochure and form and we hope that all parents will consider a gift and turn in their pledge form that night. Please remember that any gift will be greatly appreciated regardless of the amount.
